The committee for Forum Iban spearhead by MAPIM SARAWAK where its organising committee members comprised of young and energetic iban from Utusan Borneo Iban Desk had made various courtesy call and discussion to ensure that the Forum for Iban langguage resolve with a high quality by selected speakers and professional from the iban community both in and outside Sarawak.
With the high spirit it is inevitable that the organising committee undenienably majority supported the idea of having the Forum organise and few said that the Forum should be organised by any leading iban organization in the State.
Baring in mind that the Organizers (Mapim , Harian Borneo and Kpsu)basically mooted the idea to provide platform for the Forum to assist in enhancing the promotion and the preservation while addressing some of the minor issues encountered by those who are keen to learn the langguage need it be the iban themselves and other communities in Sarawak.
Iban langguage whidely spoken among the chinese , malay , melanau and other races in the ulu areas while move should be made that this langguage should be introduced in urban schools. It is timely that this langguage be accredited by the Ministry of Education as part of their entry to teach iban in schools.
Currently Arab,mandarin ,tamil,korean , Japanese and many other foreign langguage were being introduced in both primary and scondary schools in view of the job market demand.The local dialet then detoriate together with its culture that are able to promote unity and harmony among the multiracial malaysian.Thus to to stablize the political environment and security that maybe attractive to foreign investors in invest in the country while creating more job oppurtuinites to the locals.
The State Government and other NGOs should applaud the noble move by the organizers instead of looking at who chaired and who organised the Forum.They had in the past few weeks gathered at their own initiatives to scout feedbacks and comments from variouse agencies , government department, IPTA ,IPTS and NGOs before a comprehensive proposals be made to the Ministry.The feedbacks shall assist the organisers to draw the type of the papers to be presented to participants from iban and non iban community who are interested in the development of the langguage per se.
