According to him ,Malaysian Airport Berhad had been granted licence to operate ,manage and maintain the airport as provided under Section 24A of the Civil Aviation Act 1969 owe the public a duty to provide a Safety which had been clearly spelled in Conditions 7 of the Term and Conditions of the licence.
With the frequencis of flight to Mukah,Marudi and Lawas daily and at times these aircarft ferry the State's dignitaries and general public warrant Malaysia Airport Berhad to establish FRS at these mentioned airport.
Under ICAO standard aircraft i.e Twin Otter that landed at these Airport considered as Category 3 and requires at least 1200 litre/900 LPM and 135 kg Chemical Powder to put on stdby with proper FRS vehicle that is able to deliver the amount of extingusting agent incase any mishave happen at the airport he added.
The FRS unit must be mained by trained personel to be provided appropriate to the aerodrome category. To deploy Fire Brigate and assisted by Rela at the location does not conform to Annex 14 ICAO Chpt 9 he said
In case of emergencies the unit must respond within three minutes to any point of each operational runway in optimum visibility and surface conditions as the standard requirement and proceedures by ICAO. "How could the fire brigate and Rela respond within the time frame while they are not provided with protective clothing and respiratory equipment to perform the job.
Inview of the above for public safety it is a must for MAB to establish the unit at these respective airports and to adhere the Terms and Conditions laid by Ministry of Transport to the designated airports.
